The University’s Innovation Center (IC) was established to serve as the home office for innovators and provides them with an enabling environment for intellectual excellence where innovations have become the basis for communities to diversify sources of income. The IC will be the catalyst for the formation of a collaborative community of companies, faculty and students, linked interdependently in the development of knowledge-based innovative ideas and products.
The IC has the following objectives:

 

  1. To promote innovation in the University community.
  2. To encourage the university students to submit their ideas and to turn them into innovations of an economic value.
  3. To disseminate the culture of innovation and outreach to the faculty members, staff, students, and community.
  4. To facilitate the application, transfer, and exploitation of innovative ideas.
  5. To contribute to the transfer of promising innovations from the university to the industry.
  6. To stimulate innovators and invest in their innovations and talents for the service of society.
  7. To market innovations and distinguished research ideas.
  8. To strengthen the relationship between the university, investors, and innovators.
  9. To provide employment opportunities for innovators.
  10. To support specific research projects that start with an innovative idea proposed by students.
  11. To engender a culture of entrepreneurship among KSU's faculty, staff and students.

The University has also established the following entities:


Intellectual Property and Technology Licensing  Program (IPTL) which assumes responsibility of all intellectual security issues throughout King Saud University, such as patents , licenses, copyrights, and trademarks. The Program will assist university employees to register their patents , and work hard to find investment opportunities for advanced technology at the university, which would constitute a further source of income that would help fund research at the university.

Riyadh Technology Incubation Center (RTIC) which fosters the creation and growth of new technical ideas and businesses through the use of technology and business start-up and innovation commercialization programs and will help creating a new industry cluster in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh Technology Valley Program (RTV) with the objectives of attracting local and international companies to invest and locate in the valley and help creating a dynamics of research within the University and employ high competencies to facilitate growth in economic institutions that live on innovation through hosting mechanisms and providing spaces and high-precision equipment, plus value added services.

Vision:
To become the national focal center for inspiration, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
